Marble has been used for many centuries as a building material. It is quite hard, heat resistant, and is arguably the most beautiful of all natural stones used to make vanities. Marble is very popular in the kitchen, bathroom, and even used around fireplaces because it will not discolor due to the heat.
However, marble is far more porous than quartz or Granite which means that it is more likely to stain. Greater maintenance is required when choosing Marble as your material for countertops. Plus, it is not quite as hard a quartz or Granite and does have a tendency to chip or scratch under a sharp knife or heavy pot. This is why Marble is more suited to bathrooms than kitchens for countertops. A lot of people do choose Marble in the kitchen because they just love the look.
